Thanks to your dedication, Alou has regained his smile ❤️

Your trust and your commitment by our side have allowed us, here at Swiss Recycling Metals, to carry out a gesture that is particularly close to our hearts: to give a child with a congenital malformation the opportunity to receive a life-saving heart operation.

Alou
Alou

The story of Alou, a little boy from Mali who is full of life today.

Alou has a tetralogy of Fallot. It is a congenital malformation, also called "blue disease" because the blood pumped from the lungs and the heart to the body contains lower-than-normal amounts of oxygen, which causes a blue discoloration of the skin, lips and nails.

It is in fact an abnormal communication between the two ventricles, associated with a narrowing of the pulmonary artery, which leads to cyanosis (blue child) and exertional fatigue.

This complex heart disease is in fact quite common and it requires open-heart surgery. Unfortunately, the technical facilities in Mali did not allow Alou to be treated in his country. His parents and his doctor have therefore entrusted him to Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque.

🎉 A successful intervention!

Alou was welcomed by a foster family living in the Strasbourg area, and on September 11 last year he underwent the surgical repair of his heart condition at Strasbourg Hospital. The surgery was a success, and Alou is now in great shape!
